Q&A with Edie

• What do you do at Angel?

  I'm an Administrative Assistant, which means that I get to create your file, print your profile, and pull profiles for expectant mothers to look through. I also prepare the initial information packets for prospective adoptive parents.

• When did you join the Angel team?

  My exciting start date was in September of 2017, although I had applied for a position with the company about 10 years before. Finally got the job!

• What motivates you to get up and go to work?

  We are a caring company making a difference in people's lives. I find that to be very rewarding. Creating families and giving support to expectant mothers that might not have the support they need.

• What is your favorite inspirational, motivational, or positive-thinking quote?

  I recently heard of four things to do when you wake up: 1. Deep breath. 2. Say something you are grateful for. 3. Have an intention for the day. 4. Actually feel your feet on the ground.

• What's your personal connection to adoption?

  I adopted my oldest daughter when I was 40. She has forever changed my life and I will always be grateful for the process of adoption.

• What advice do you have for our waiting families?

  Be patient, trust that there is a plan for you, and everything will fall together when it is supposed to.

• Who inspires you and why?

  My girls, Audrey and Ava, continue to inspire me. Also, the team I work with inspire me every day. They are loving, supportive, and beautiful souls.

• When are you happiest?

  I am the happiest when I am surrounded by my girls.

• What is your favorite family tradition?

  My mother's birthday is December 24th. When she was alive, we started a tradition of crab legs for her birthday and to celebrate Christmas. That tradition continues and my girls just love Christmas Eve. It's a time for them to be reminded of their grandmother.

• What are you passionate about?

  My girls, Audrey and Ava, and my job.

• What was the last experience that made you a stronger person?

  The coronavirus situation has provided many challenges.

• What’s the greatest challenge you have had to overcome in your life thus far?

  My greatest challenge was starting a family. At the age of 40 I still had no children.

• What was something that happened to you that you thought was bad but it turned out to be for the best?

  Getting divorced. I thought that would be difficult on the girls. It wasn't easy, but my ex and I put on a united front for them. Now they are strong, loving, and beautiful adults.

• What’s your most memorable facepalm moment?

  Finding the definition of "facepalm."

• What do you like to do on your days off?

  Spend time with my family and friends and clean my house.

• Where is your favorite place to be?

  The beach, any beach.

• What is one thing you cannot resist?

  Sweets

• What are you proudest of?

  Audrey and Ava, my girls!

• What books are at your bedside?

  Diet Books (did I mention sweets?)

• What music is on your most-played list?

  I love alternative music.
